ReproMed Ltd. is registered with Health Canada (Certificate #000049) in accordance with the Safety of Sperm and Ova Regulations for the processing of semen specimens. This directive came into force on February 4th, 2020.
The previous directive was known as The Semen Regulations. Units processed under this mandate are still compliant for use and distribution. As of February 4th, 2020, all specimens released for reproductive use are processed under the new directive.
We have undergone yearly inspections by Health Canada and have always been found compliant. For more information regarding the AHR Act, please visit the Health Canada AHR-Frequently Asked Questions website, which addresses the distribution of semen specimens under the law.
Our registration certificate allows us to collect and distribute samples from donors recruited in Canada. These donors, in accordance with regulatory compliance, are not compensated and are allowed only reimbursement of reasonable expenses. Our donor population is a select, altruistically motivated group that wants to help other people build their families. ReproMed Ltd. is also recognized by Health Canada as a distributor for samples from Fairfax for distribution in Canada.
